A new committee was formed in 2014 and at that stage we had a little athletics section and a juvenile section with very few competing athletes.

We had one registered adult that competed in the Great Island 10 in 2014.

So we decided to relaunch the adult section and build from there. A group of about 12 people attended the first meeting up in the tech field clubhouse and everyone was so enthusiastic it just took off.

Adult training was organised and more people came on board to help with little athletics and juveniles.

New club logo and singlets were designed and after a lot of work we had athletes competing in under age and senior events all over the country.

By October 2014 we had a group of Seniors heading to Dublin to take on the marathon and since then we have representatives at marathons all over the world.

We introduced a fit4life programme and it has been a huge success and the dedication of our members has been fantastic to keep it going over the last few years.

We built a new tartan track training area and Long jump which will be a fantastic edition particularly for our juveniles.

Our juveniles are building nicely and now compete in local ,county, munster and national competition and currently we have two athletes in the munster performance squad.

Ballymore Cobh A.C. reintroduced their annual road races back to Cobh in 2014.

First up was the Sonia 3k in Aug 2014.

Then we had the Sonia 5k in sept 2015 that attracted huge crowds to the town to help celebrate Sonia O’Sullivans 20th anniversary of her world championship win in Gottenburg.

A 4 mile race was also held in 2015 and in 2016.

Sonias influence has been huge for the club and is always on hand for help or advice.

Any funds raised goes directly back into the club to upgrade equipment and a recent investment was a new high jump set.

The club is very ambitious and we want to continue building a great club and environment for all our members and future generations of Cobh.

Best Regards
